Exercise: Write Your First CSS Rule

Mission

The completed demo styled a museum introduction. This new exhibit label starts unstyled; use the same selector/property/value pattern on its different content.

What you'll build

A pale page background and a blue exhibit heading.

Your Task

The HTML already links style.css. Work in that stylesheet:

  1. Add background-color: #f6f8fb; to a body rule.
  2. Add color: #1b4d8c; to an h1 rule.

Checkpoint

Run the page. The background should become pale and the heading blue.

Payoff

You have written a selector, property, and value—the basic unit of CSS.

Hint 1
1 / 1
HINT 1

A rule has the shape selector { property: value; }.
